Introduction
Sphere Media Technologies Co Ltd, trading as Tail of Chaos (“Tail of Chaos”, “we”, “us”, “our”), is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy and Cookies Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.
Who we are
Tail of Chaos is a trading name of Sphere Media Technologies Co Ltd, a company registered in Mauritius. We are registered with the Data Protection Office of Mauritius as both a Data Controller and a Data Processor, and we process personal data in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2017, as amended.
We have an in-house Data Protection Controller responsible for overseeing our compliance with data protection law. Personal data is processed in-house rather than through external data processors, except where stated in this policy.
The Personal Data we Collect
- Contact details: name, email address, and phone/WhatsApp number
- Order details: items ordered, order history, and collection arrangements
- Payment information: processed via our payment provider [Juice by MCB / confirm other methods]; we do not store your full card or payment account details ourselves
- Content you submit for your Artwork: photographs of your pet and, where relevant, photographs or descriptions of people, along with any personal stories or details you share with us to inform your commission
- Communications: messages you send us via WhatsApp, email, or our website
- Website usage data: collected via cookies and similar technologies (see Clause 13)
How we Collect your Personal Data
We collect personal data when you place an order on our website, communicate with us via WhatsApp, email, or our website, or visit our website through cookies and similar technologies.
How we Use your Personal Data
- To process and fulfil your order, including creating your Artwork and arranging collection
- To communicate with you about your order
- To process payment for your order
- To improve our website and services
- To comply with our legal and tax obligations
- With your consent, to feature your Artwork in our marketing, on our website, on social media, or in a public exhibition
- With your consent, to send you marketing communications about Tail of Chaos
We process your personal data because it is necessary to perform our contract with you, to comply with our legal obligations, or, where stated, on the basis of your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
Personal Data Involving Other People
If your Artwork includes another person — for example, a family member or friend — you are responsible for ensuring you have that person’s consent, or, if they are a minor, the consent of their parent or guardian, before sharing their photograph or details with us. See our Terms and Conditions, Clause 4, for more detail.
Who we Share Data with
- Our artists, who receive the Content necessary to complete your commission. Artists are contractually required to keep this information confidential, communicate with you only through our official channels, and delete it once your commission is complete.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
International Data Transfers
Where any of our service providers are located outside Mauritius, we take steps to ensure your personal data is protected in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2017.
Data Retention
We retain your order and contact information for as long as necessary to fulfil your order, to comply with our legal, accounting and tax obligations, and to resolve any dispute.
Photographs and personal details submitted for your commission are retained only for as long as necessary to complete your Artwork, unless you have separately consented to longer retention — for example, for your private story page, or for marketing use. Our artists must delete customer photographs and information once a commission is complete.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration.
Your Rights
Under the Data Protection Act 2017, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Request deletion of your personal data, subject to our legal and contractual obligations
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your personal data
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with the Mauritius Data Protection Office

Children’s Privacy
Our website and services are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. Where a child appears in Content submitted for an Artwork, this must be provided by, and with the consent of, their parent or guardian, as set out in our Terms and Conditions.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to make our website work properly, understand how visitors use our website, and, where applicable, support marketing. Cookies are small text files stored on your device.
